It is important to follow the care instructions below as it will enhance the life span of your Mountain Horse boots.

Leather Boot Care

  • Wipe away dirt and dust from welts and seams with a damp, soft sponge or cloth. Tougher stains may be removed with quality leather cleaners. Never use strong household chemicals as they may damage the leather permanently.
  • If the leather becomes wet, allow boots to dry completely before using again. Do not use artificial heat sources, such as radiators or hair dryers, to dry boots. Allow boots to dry naturally.
  • Use leather cream and quality conditioners to restore the softness and flexibility of the leather.
  • Water repellent protection can be applied when water no longer beads off the outer material.
  • The use of boot trees in tall boots will help to maintain the overall shape of the shaft.

Winter Boot Care

  • Wipe away dirt and dust from welts and seams with a damp soft sponge or cloth and mild soap and warm water. Never use strong household chemicals.
  • Allow boots to dry completely before using again.
  • Do not use artificial heat sources, such as radiators or hair dryers, to dry boots. Allow boots to dry naturally.
  • The use of boot trees in tall boots will help to maintain the overall shape of the shaft.

Footwear Zipper Care

  • Always pull the zipper down completely before putting your foot inside or taking your foot out.
  • Always ensure that the zipper closes easily. Never force the zipper.
  • Keep the zipper clean from sand, dirt and grit. Excessive dirt on the zipper can be cleaned using a brush, (old toothbrush) and water. Wipe down and dry boots naturally away from artificial heat sources.
  • The use of boot trees is recommended. Boot trees will prevent the shaft of the boot from collapsing thus putting added pressure on to the teeth of the zipper.
  • Always ensure that that the zipper locks into position at the top with the zipper tab pointing downwards.
